Corporate social responsibility or CSR is a concept, which is similar in its approach to corporate sustainability, corporate sustainable development, corporate responsibility, and corporate citizenship. Though CSR may not have a global definition, it is a way of integrating corporate regulation involving the economic, social, and environmental imperatives into a business model. CSR has now taken the shape of a built-in policy in a business model, whereby the corporates have a continuing commitment to behave ethically and contribute to economic development, while being equally responsible for improving the quality of life of the workforce as well as of the local community and society at large. The corporate decision- making process now recognizes the three Ps in the following sequence: people, planet & profit.
